Majili Review

Majili left me in such heavy emotion... What should I say?
So much vizagness in the movie, the city I adore the mooooooooooost.
What beautiful characters. So much fondness. So much purity. So much love. So much pain. So much misery. And so much depth and beauty.

Poorna is a reflection of a scar. Many of us experience that failed love and the love that was so much full of life, which breathed life into yourself. Reason for living.

Yes. He gets into all possibilities of nastiness. Yet. It is shown beautifully. Somehow, the guy wins you with his truth. And this truth is particularly not disturbing like Arjun Reddy.
Poorna wins you with surrender and not vandalism. You can see similarities like attitude, failing to take no for an answer, rigid, easily triggered. But Poorna is a hell lot different than Arjun Reddy.

In reality, people like Arjun Reddy may fail well in love but not love like Poorna. The entire existence of this man is completely shadowed by one magnanimous character Sravani, a writing rarity that happened to telugu cinema.
Whoever wrote this character, kudos to them. Thankyou, for telling us, the audience, about something called "class" which we seem to have forgotten completely.

A part of me questions, isnt it borderline stupid, being the "idealistic, Non questioning wife" to such husband, who comes home drunk, doesn't work and doesn't mind yelling at her own father in the middle of the road at midnight etc.
Yes. It's true. Epitome of patience and hope. I saulte her and also pity her for it.

Yet, there's a silent credit we give to Poorna inspite of all these. I have to credit Samantha's performance for that. The only reason I dint find Poorna to the level of disgust is Sravani.

My favourite quality of her is that, she stands for truth, even if it's hatred. My memories of seeing such genuine, deep female character were with Savitri and then Soundarya. That's it.

The song "Priyatama..." haunts you like the moisture of rain. It's fragrance doesn't leave you soon.

Gopi Sunder's care for the pain of the hero, even while he fights is captured through the Violin he puts as the fight goes on. Interestingly, all the fights in the movie show you the pain of the hero and not just vandalism. You'll actually end up feeling sorry for him even though the others are the one who get hurt.

Naga Chaitanya maintains his class. He is not afraid to break the atypical *mass masala, intro song, dhamal dhamal, itemsong* kind of scripts.

Samantha and Naga Chaitanya - their career's BEST performance.

What a Majili from Ye Maya Chesave - to - Marriage - to - Majili. Both of them are so adorable on screen, off screen.

And what a movie to do just after you get married. My God.

Not for the lighter audience. Must for audience who wait for some class to happen to telugu cinema.

Thankyou Shiva Nirvana for this film.

You can watch it on Amazon Prime Video.
